Clay Hughey

Clay Hughey was Vice President of International Operations and Country director for Family Legacy. He managed all of the operations for Family Legacy in Zambia, which included a $20 million budget that provided for the full-time wholistic care of more than 800 orphaned children.  This ministry had a school for grades 1 – 12, a fully functioning medical clinic, guest lodge which housed 1,000 short-term visitors every year and a sponsorship program that provided education to over 15,000 children in and around Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia.  Family Legacy operated 24 schools and Clay managed a staff of over 850 Zambians. Clay has over 6 years’ experience living and working in Africa and has extensive knowledge in orphan care, development and construction work in Africa, education, and organizational management.

Dave Crossland

Dave attended Clemson University and graduated with a business degree in 2015. During his sophomore year at Clemson, he became involved with African missions and has served in and led teams to Zimbabwe, Kenya, Zambia, and Uganda. Dave brings a sense of peace and steadiness to those around him and he is passionate about others knowing the love and inclusion of Christ. He currently lives in Columbia, South Carolina working in prosthetics and orthotics.


Kris Allison

Kris Allison has been involved in student ministry in some capacity since 1977, ether full time vocation as a youth pastor/minister, part time or volunteer.  Currently Kris is a volunteer student leader at the church he attends, ministering to middle and high school students, as well as college age students.  He has also been on numerous domestic and foreign mission trips.  Foreign mission trips include Costa Rica, Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Rwanda.  In 2013 he went to Kenya, Africa for the first time as a co-team leader with high school and college age students from his church’s student ministry.  This particular mission trip influenced Kris deeply in such a way that the Lord gave him a passion and call for missions to Africa.  Since 2013 Kris has been to Africa eight times.

Not only does Kris have a deep passion for African missions he also has a deep passion for equipping and for discipleship of students, for student leaders and the team members of those he travels with on mission trips.  He feels that the Lord has gifted him in discipleship and teaching, as well as other spiritual gifts that allows him to help others grow in their relationship with the Lord. He is also passionate about evangelism, desiring to share the Love of Christ and the Gospel as part of his ministry.

Tiffany Vanburen

Tiffany VanBuren resides in Bristol, Tennessee and is the Director of Evangelism at Judah Church. Tiffany has a B.S in Psychology from King University and has been in Human Resources for many years. She was first introduced to AFM by her daughter, Jamayia, in the summer of 2020.

In December of that year, Tiffany traveled to Livingstone, Zambia for two weeks to serve on her first mission trip with AFM - a trip where she was integral toward forming a long-term partnership with JZone Zambia. Tiffany was such an outstanding leader and a catalyst for her team to experience the Lord on mission!

Tiffany is a prayer warrior and intercessor and is thrilled to bring those gifts to help serve the ministry of Africa Freedom Mission. Tiffany’s also excited to serve along side of Africa Freedom Mission and to watch it grow for the advancement of the Kingdom.
